Our English experts are confident that these four tasks will provide examples of all that students will likely encounter in the 2020 GCSE exam.
Within these four papers, from a pool of current Year 11 students specifically commissioned by www.schoolexams.co.uk to provide responses to these tasks, we have carefully selected four responses which illustrate the different range of responses which our experts deem will most likely span from a Grade 4 to a Grade 9. We provide a detailed analysis of each response, with commentaries and critique to show how this work will likely be assessed in 2020, and how the answers can be improved. We also provide a guide to the marking criteria the examiners will adhere to, as outlined by OFQAL. This should be invaluable to any student sitting English Language GCSE in 2020.
We have provided you with the same four writing tasks to practice on as you prepare for your English Language GCSE.
You may wish to attempt each task before you look at the rest of the materials for that task. This will enable you to compare your own response with the assessment materials and student responses. You will then be able to identify what you have done well and to consider how you could improve your writing performance.
Or, of course, you may choose to look at the rest of the materials first to identify how you could improve your writing performance and then have a go at each task.
